If your kids are anything like mine, they've been counting down to summer break for weeks.
And now that it’s finally here, the big question becomes: what are we actually going to do with all this time?

But here’s the thing I’ve learned over the years: it doesn’t have to be a big trip to matter.
Some of my favorite summer days as a mom are still the simplest ones.
Pancake breakfasts
Backyard play in the sun
Simple picnic lunches at the park
Ice cream runs
Reading books together
Bike rides around the neighborhood
Easy movie nights at home
Evening walks after dinner
Kids playing outside until sunset
Those are the moments that somehow end up being the stories they tell later.
I think we put a lot of pressure on ourselves to “do summer right.” To make it big and memorable and perfectly planned.
But kids don’t need perfect.
They need you.
So if I had one simple challenge for this summer, it would be this: pick one place you’ve always talked about going—and actually go. Even if it’s just a beach an hour away or a small town you always pass on the freeway.
Pack snacks. Roll the windows down. Let the day unfold however it wants to.
Because before we know it, summer is gone.
And the everyday rhythm comes back.
Wishing you a season full of sunshine, slow moments, and the kind of memories that stick.
